Your role:

Reporting to the Regional Financial Controller in Canada and the Managing Director in the USA, You will be responsible for the management of all commercial processes of the company. Your main focus is the financial management of the company including accounting and controlling activities. You ensure that the bookkeeping data is correctly dealt with in accounting terms thereby ensuring that the reporting to Canada and Munich Head Office is both accurate and factual. This includes full cycle accounting and the month end closing process of the company including general accounting, costing, payroll, reconciliations, receivables, payables, taxes, and ensuring financial statements are GAAP and IFRS compliant.

Furthermore, you will ensure that corporate controlling procedures are dealt with and that reporting requirements to headquarters are met. You provide cost analysis to improve profitability and report Business KPIs on a timely basis to Canada and Munich Head Office.

You will also interface with other departments to gather data for accounting and controlling analysis, identify areas for process improvement, perform ad hoc analysis, and provide documentation for external auditors. You will also provide data to the sales and operational teams as required and follow IFRS headquarters guidelines while complying with a defined set of deadlines throughout the year.

Further responsibilities include the commercial steering of procurement and logistics activities as well as inventory management. This includes also the responsibility for IT and ERP systems.

You will on a continuous basis support the management of the company with the preparation of board presentations.

Controlling Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Controlling of the different company functions
  • Preparation of management and financial analyses and reports
  • Management of annual budget process
  • Creation of business cases incl. make or buy analysis
  • Management of ad hoc projects for the local MD and headquarters
  • Supervision of procurement function in terms of spare parts & consumables

Accounting Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

Desired Skills and Experience:

 

  • Degree in Business Administration
  • Accounting or CPA designation
  • Strong Controlling background
  • 5+ years of work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in an accountant position; experience in manufacturing
  • Knowledge and experience with QuickBooks is a must and SAP experience is an asset
  • Detail oriented and strong problem solving and conflict-management skills
  • Willing to adapt to changing circumstances and environments
  • Embrace new ideas and be enterprising, resourceful and adaptable
  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to prioritize task and meet strict reporting deadlines
  • Experience with IFRS is a must
  • Highly knowledgeable in MS suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to spot opportunities to simplify workloads and processes
  • Strong command of the English language is a must
  • German language skills are an asset
  • Strong character and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and maintain internal / external relationships
  • Intercultural background and experience in multinational companies is an asset but not a must
