About The Role
Participate in the day-to-day planning and organization of studies by working with multiple departments and coordinating activities. Oversee the conduct of animal research according to regulatory guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Responsible for assisting Study Director (SD) in monitoring of studies and reporting directly to Study Coordinator Supervisor. The Study Coordinator I is involved in all areas of the study and is available for all questions regarding his/her particular studies.  

What You'll Do Here

  • Drafts protocols and amendments using study outline or client supplied information.
  • Reviews study compliance against protocol, SOP, and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Reviews study schedules based on input from SD and communicates work plan to laboratory personnel and support groups.
  • Participates in and assists SD with pre-initiation and other study related meetings.
  • Reviews progress and study status against initial work plan.
  • Proactively communicates and interacts with study team (SDs and operational staff) to ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Serves as the primary contact in communication and interaction with other departments.
  • Ensures study files are well documented, organized and up-to-date, including study schedule, protocol and correspondence.
  • Assists SD in monitoring in-life and review of study compliance with protocol, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participates in the peer review process for scientific reports.
  • Reviews QAU report audits with SD or appropriate laboratory group; submits audit responses for SD approval; ensures that all necessary report/raw data clarifications are completed.
  • Learns to fill-in for SD in their absence with ability to provide updates to internal/external customers.
  • Regularly manages increasingly more complex projects and study designs and/or increased study load
  • Prepares for and participates in routine client visits under direction of the SD; hosts routine client visits and interacts/communicates with client.
  • Develops an area of expertise within the department and serves as a resource by providing training and written instructions.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor degree from four-year college or university; or a minimum of 6 months experience in a field position within APC if no or lesser degree obtained.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word skills required.
  • Pre-clinical research experience preferred.
  • AALAS certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-driven.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong organization and leadership skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
