The Opportunity
Plant Manager

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Plant Manager will be responsible for developing business strategies and managing operational activities in order to achieve operational objectives while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This position will oversee all areas of facility operations.


Key Responsibilities
:

  • Oversight of all areas of facility operations including refrigeration plant, ice production, warehouse inventory, distribution, quality control, maintenance, safety, and labor relations.

  • Establish and manage plant operational budgets and implement actions to control day-to-day costs and achieve financial objectives.

  • Establish and maintain sufficient workforce to manage appropriate inventory and meet business demand.  Foster a positive working environment and maintain an open and collaborative relationship with workforce.

  • Manage continuous improvement and cost reduction methods.

  • Ensure all areas of the facility, including machinery, equipment, building, grounds, tools, etc. are maintained in safe condition and good working order.

  • Promote health and safety culture by taking proactive actions and eliminating health and safety risks.  Develop, maintain, and enforce plant Health and Safety programs in compliance with company standards and all government regulations.

  • Develop and maintain plant Food Safety programs and procedures in compliance with company standards and government regulations.

  • Ensure training and initiatives are communicated to facility staff and effectively implemented

  • Assist and advise Regional Manager on facility capital projects necessary to maintain, improve, and increase operational efficiencies and capacity.  

   Skills Requirements and Competencies:  

  • The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience working within a manufacturing environment in a leadership role, preferably in the food industry.

  • Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration, ice packaging equipment, general electrical, and control systems.

  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.

  •  Ability to work within a team environment dealing with high pressure situations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Office products, including Power Point, Excel and Outlook.
