Position Summary

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall security, safety, maintenance, and services of work across multiple CAA Niagara locations. Overall tasks include those that are necessary to maintaining a safe and functional work environment. 

 

The Facilities Manager will develop short-, intermediate-, and long-term plans, with a strong focus on financial ramifications of each option.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that CAA Niagara facilities meet government and insurance regulations and environmental, health and security standards.
  • Research, recommend, and oversee contractors and providers for services including landscaping, snow removal, generator maintenance, sprinklers, HVAC, waste disposal
  • Manage janitorial duties, including waste disposal and indoor/outdoor overall cleanliness
  • Remain up to date with trends and developments in technology, particularly navigating HVAC, smart building technologies and security monitoring systems.
  • Manage internal courier services across multiple locations
  • Responsible for the organization and maintenance of multiple storage locations
  • Ensure security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly
  • First point of contact for after-hour facility emergencies (alarms, power failures, etc)
  • Ensure that basic facilities, such as electrical, plumbing, and heating, are well-maintained. Complete basic repairs as required.
  • Manage assigned budget and ensure cost-effectiveness while ensuring quality maintenance of facilities
  • Seek energy efficiency and sustainability opportunities across facilities.
  • Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections.
  • Checks completed work by vendors and contractors.
  • Communicates workplace safety precautions to employees.
  • Oversee building projects, renovations, and refurbishments, including moving or assembling any furniture modifications.
  • Draft reports and make written recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of building services.
  • Highly organized to manage tasks, schedules, facilities maintenance, and resources efficiently.
  • Resilient and with the ability to multi-task within an environment that may change priority tasks at any time.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills to guide projects, delegate tasks, and make important decisions. 

Education & Experience

  • Post Secondary Education in business administration, or discipline related to facility operation and maintenance or a equivalent combination of technical training and experience. 
  • Hands on experience with fixing and maintaining building resources. 
  • Previous experience in maintenance supervision or related field
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with full Microsoft Suite and project management programs
  • Sound working knowledge of basic tools, including hand power tools
  • Forklift certification required.
  • A focus on health and safety, with clear understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and how to keep safe work environment at all times

 

 

Working Conditions & Environment

  • Physical position, with ability to bend, twist, crouch, squat, push, pull
  • Able to lift up to 70lbs unassisted
  • Constant walking/standing
  • Must have own vehicle to drive to all locations
  • Must have valid G license and clean drivers’ abstract to be able to drive company vehicle, when required
