Purpose of Job

 

This role is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development team that will enable EQB Bank’s Challenger Bank aspiration using cloud-native technologies and modern delivery methodologies.

 

EQB has transformed to a hybrid-agile delivery methodology with cross-functional Pods dedicated to launching new products, features, and ongoing business value for a portfolio of applications.  As part of this journey, we require a Software Developer for our Lending portfolio, who can continue to evolve our API and Microservice centric architecture, and Core Banking platform.  Our vision is that the Software Developer will be able to utilize the foundational Cloud, DevOps, API, and PaaS services to deliver technology enabled outcomes with dozens of production releases per month. 

 

Main Activities:

 

  • Assess and clarify user experience and requirements (10%)
    1. Support experience design, functional requirements and digital product definition by providing technical solutions
    2. Analyze and provide feedback to evolve creative designs and functional requirements to define a customer centric solution
    3. Contribute to technical/non-functional requirements
  • Technology Design (20%)
    1. Define an integrated, RESTful/SOAP API or ETL solution design with support from front-end and back-end system teams
    2. Create design artifacts using RAML and JSON Schema standards
    3. Define frontend responsive design solutions
  • API Development (60%)
    1. Develop and support Interoperability APIs and MicroService applications
    2. Develop and support responsive UI using Angular
    3. Plan and estimate development tasks
    4. Participate in daily delivery SCRUMs to ensure Sprint delivery progression and resolution of issues
    5. Conduct unit testing on developed code, with automated testing where relevant
    6. Develop and maintain comprehensive architecture designs and technical documentation
    7. Participate in group and peer code review session
    8. Actively involved during QA triage to recommend and provide fixes
  • Application Support (10%)
    1. Assist incident management teams by troubleshooting and resolving production incidents

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

 

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with solid understanding of data-structures, algorithms and computation complexities
  • 5+ years strong experience in Java 7/8, J2EE/JEE , Spring MVC, Spring Security, Springboot and JPA
  • Deep knowledge of REST API, Microservices
  • Strong knowledge of database – MYSQL
  • 3+ years strong hands-on experience in Angular 2+
  • Solid hands-on development experience on writing JUNIT and Spring integration
  • Hands-on experience with Git
  • Experience on Maven build and deployment process
  • Knowledge and experience of CI/CD - working with Jenkins
  • Experience working with Jira and Confluence
  • Experience working in financial industry and knowledge of banking products is a definite asset
  • Self-starter who can take a concept and drive it through to the design and implementation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

 

Nice to Have:

 

  • Cloud solutions - Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Azure PaaS
  • Knowledge of RAML
  • Knowledge of Docker
  • Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
