Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, People & Culture of Glen Dimplex, Americas, the Human Resources Business Partner will provide expertise in a wide range of HR programs in order to support our client’s strategic plan and revenue growth. This includes talent management, training and development, recruiting and on-boarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, organizational development and effectiveness, workforce planning and other company-wide people functions. This role requires someone with experience working within an evolving workforce with an aptitude for change management. The successful candidate will lead the HR function in the Cambridge distribution facility and may remotely support the manufacturing facility in Washington if required.

Contribute to and support the alignment of the culture, vision, values and goals of the organization to human capital strategies and tactics in the workplace
Coordinate the overall development and dissemination of HR policies
Ensure that the HR operating budget stays within the established plan
Responsible for ancillary company services and programs such as: medical, tuition refund, and service awards
Create processes, tools, initiatives, performance management and training to support talent management across the business
Assist in the development and execution of a human resources plan to ensure alignment of HR activities with revenue and growth plans
Ensure team members have a safe working environment, free from discrimination and harassment
Investigate and resolve team member issues, and establish effective mechanisms to receive and act on feedback
Drive the execution of performance management initiatives for the company that include: completing employee reviews, helping define employee career plans, and review the various job grades and role descriptions as they vary throughout the organization
Training and Development
Ensure succession plans are in place to identify best-qualified successors and address development needs of the identified team members
Drive career development strategies and programs, including customized learning initiatives for recognized high-potential team members, based on employee development, training and future business needs
Compensation and Benefits
Provide guidance and direction for compensation and benefits programs
Develop strategic compensation plans and job grades to ensure alignment across the company, as well as performance management systems
Ensure compensations and benefits are delivered within legal and regulatory frameworks
Maintain the company’s salary pay structure to assure that it is competitive with other employers who compete with Glen Dimplex, Americas for employees, and is perceived to be equitable by company employees
Talent Acquisition and Retention
Oversee the recruitment and on-boarding of new talent
Ensure that all salaried staffing needs within the company are satisfied from executive positions and down
Drive corporate branding initiatives related to recruiting and retaining talented team members
Provide overall direction, coordination, and guidance of the company’s Performance Evaluation Program and Management Progression and Succession Planning
Promote Glen Dimplex, Americas as an employer of choice to highly qualified talent
Develop retention strategies where required
KEY EXPERIENCES AND LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS
A history of success as a true HR business partner to both internal clients and to the organization as a whole
Experience with change-management and the ability to lead the company through a transition period
A track record of being a hands-on HR leader, who is great at tactical execution but who also has the capacity to develop strategy
Strong understanding of provincial laws and regulations governing the management of human resources, including health and safety laws
A history of dealing with confidential issues in a sensitive, efficient and professional manner
A track record of success in identifying facts and investigating issues objectively – you can filter out the noise and come to a decision based on evidence
Exceptional communication skills – with the ability to read and analyze complex information, and make effective and persuasive presentations on these complex topics capacity to communicate with all levels of team members, to influence outcomes and to establish credibility
A demonstrated record of sound judgment, ethics, integrity, conflict resolution and diplomacy – and a history of success in “getting stuff done”
Solid consulting and analytical skills focused on results and skilled at building strong professional relationships at all organizational levels
A bachelor's degree or college diploma
Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation preferred
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
Confident, with a high degree of perseverance
Action-oriented and results-driven, e.g. “gets stuff done”
Strong business acumen
Collaborative and a team-player who is also independent and resourceful
Open and approachable – can create and foster strong relationships in a professional and confidential manner
Adept at mediation and managing conflict
