Immigrant Services Calgary is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Community Programs Coordinator to oversee the agency’s Community Initiatives for Immigrant Seniors Program (CISP) and Cross-Cultural Adaptation Program (CCAP). The objectives of the programs are to enhance social inclusion for immigrants/refugees in the Calgary community and to facilitate their settlement and integration through enhancing their self-sufficiency, community ties and social/support networks, as well as encouraging civic engagement. The Coordinator needs to ensure that the programs are effectively managed and delivered and the accountability framework is executed. This position also carries a caseload.

This is a contract position until December 31, 2019.


• Oversee all aspects of the CISP and CCAP, including program planning, marketing, research and development, implementation and delivery, monitoring and evaluation, as well as internal and external reporting
• Conduct research on relevant funding opportunities and compile funding proposals/reports
• Conduct intakes and needs assessments and provide relevant services to immigrants/refugees
• Develop, coordinate and facilitate workshops and support groups for immigrants in response to their needs
• Conduct community outreach and foster partnerships with mainstream agencies, community service providers, and ethno-cultural organizations to promote agency services and facilitate community collaboration
• Attend interagency/networking meetings as required
• Responsible for the supervision and training of program staff and volunteers
• Maintain accurate, updated records of client database, program outputs, outcomes and other data pertaining to funding requirements and management needs
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications & Assets:

• Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Humanities, Communication or related disciplines
• Passion, experience, knowledge and skills in working with immigrants, in particular immigrant seniors
• At least three years’ experience in the areas of casework, community outreach, program planning and project management
• Excellent knowledge of community resources for immigrants
• Experience in planning, delivering and facilitating workshops and/or support groups
• Astute research, marketing and project management skills
• Excellent report and proposal writing skills
• Supervisory, coaching and leadership experience
• Excellence in verbal and written English and proficiency in a second language
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Computer literacy
• Willing to work from satellite offices as required
• Must be able to work after hours and/or on weekends as needed
