North American Stamping is expanding and looking to hire. We are looking for an experienced Product Engineer to join our Farmington Hills, MI Sales and Engineering Team.

GENERAL SUMMARY

This IS NOT a posting for an automotive DESIGN ENGINEER. Metal Stamping experience is required.

The Metal Stamping Product Engineer will lead the development and launch of new products, processes, and design changes.  This position will be the primary customer engineering contact, ensuring new product and changes to existing product meet NASG and Customer requirements.  The Product Engineer will lead a cross-functional team, including functions from sales, estimating, tooling, engineering, and quality to ensure the feasibility of both product design and process design. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

Supports Sales team as the technical representative to the customer.

Works with cross functional team to prepare print markups, geometry change proposals (CAD), feasibility assessments and estimates on automotive metal stampings and metal assemblies.

Evaluates product design for manufacturability, recommend ways to make a product more cost effective including product design & process design change recommendations.

Consults with industry experts to discuss estimates & feasibility analysis in order to resolve issues.

Conducts team feasibility assessments (TFC’s) for potential awarded work.

Prepares and presents redlined drawings and design change proposals to the customers.

Negotiates for tolerance relief and design concessions with the customer on behalf of the company.  

Participates in continuous improvement activities.

Performs other duties as assigned. 
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS


Education:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

 


Experience:

 

3 years of metal stamping experience / metal stamping tool & die experience is required.

Previous direct customer interface (face-to-face and verbal) with positive outcome is required.

 

 

Personal/Technical Skills: 

Proven ability to read/interpret GD&T and engineering specifications is required.

Strong interpersonal communication skills are required.

Intermediate proficiency in Solidworks or Unigraphics NX is required.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office is required.

Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Pro is required.

Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability is required.

Strong multi-task skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is required.

Demonstrated ability to function both independently and with good judgement in a team environment is required. 

Language Skills: 
 

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English) used in the workplace.

 

 

Travel: 
 

Must be willing to travel up to 20% to visit customers, suppliers, and other manufacturing sites.
