GENERAL SUMMARY

To Manage overall production and tooling activities in the assigned division. This position will encourage others to seek process opportunities addressing problems through a different & innovative approach leading to improving productivity and tooling systems through TQPS.  Make critical decisions while following company procedures. Identify & correct conditions that affect team member safety. Foster an environment in building teamwork where team members work toward goals that lead to achieving the division’s KPI’s.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Assist the General Manager in setting annual budgets and capital spending requirements for production and other departments of the AGM’s responsibility.
  2. Guide and Support departments of responsibility as needed to meet the budgeted requirements of the plant.
  3. Report data for Monthly Management Review meetings .
  4. Ensure proper manpower allocation aligns within departments of responsibility.
  5. Assist and provide guidance in trouble-shooting activities required of the plant.                       
  6. Ensure NASG Escalation Procedures are followed, and swift action taken to minimize process waste (i.e.: downtime, scrap, inefficiency etc.). 
  7. Create, Evaluate & Review Departmental Manager goals; provide feedback, correction, or direction as needed.
  8. Responsible for developing and reviewing performance reviews of all direct reports and support mentoring, counseling, & corrective actions as needed.
  9. Continuous interaction with management team and be a driver of the TQPS philosophy.
  10. Lead and Mentor A.I. team meetings as required & requested.
  11. Demonstrate operational improvement - using Continuous Improvements, A.I. Team Suggestion Routers and Tangible Cost Savings to meet annual goals.
  12. Foster open communication through cross functional team meetings to ensure common goals and objectives to avoid unnecessary downtime.                               
  13. Advocate and promote the adherence to company policies and administering.

  1. Ensure team member training is maintained at the expected level for required documents, procedures, & processes.
  2. Oversee training and development of toolmakers and operations leaders to meet the company business development plans by use of the Career Path Planning and Apprentice Training schemes.
  3. Ensure compliance with Safety Policies and Practices.                                     
  4. Incident (Near Misses and accidents) Investigations are timely for proper Corrective Actions
  5. Ensure 5-S standards are maintained.
  6. Ensure compliance with Environmental Policies and Practices.
  7. Ensure all Quality procedures are followed in conjunction with the Quality Department.          
  8. Promote Quality achievement & performance.
  9. Assist Quality in IATF16949 requirements.
  10. Follow-up and execute as needed on Corrective Actions.
  11. Any additional duties assigned by the next level leader.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Prefer Bachelors. or Associates degree related to manufacturing or relative management experience in an automotive stamping environment.

 

Experience:

  • 3 years as Production/Plant Manager in Automotive Metals Manufacturing Industry
  • 5 years administering / supervising in Automotive Metals Manufacturing Industry
  • Preferred- Prior Experience in Production, Materials, Quality, Maintenance, and Tooling



Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated strong leadership qualities.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and able to make data driven decisions.
  • Will possess the organizational skills necessary to maintain company records to ensure IATF compliance.
  • Demonstrate a “hands on” approach and be available to get involved at whatever level is necessary to support the needs of our team members and our customers.
  • Demonstrate a servant leader philosophy by working to improve working environment and processes for our front-line team members.

 

Language Skills:

  • Required - to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English) used in the workplace.
  • Preferred - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish for Mexico-based operations.

 

Computer/Software:

  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Internet, etc.).
  • User of CAD or CAD readers for detail die design reviews, part design reviews, simulation and overlays.
  • Working knowledge and experience with ERP/MRP software.
  • Must be willing and capable of developing power-user capabilities for ERP/MRP and BI systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Office:  Open Office Environment

 

Plant:  Various types of manufacturing environments.

  • Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. 
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc. may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas.  Personal attire standards may apply.
  • Involves moderate or occasional presence of some slightly disagreeable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.

 

Travel:

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% to visit customers, suppliers, and other manufacturing sites.
  • Must maintain an active passport throughout employment

The associate must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh up to 50 pounds without assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  The noise level is generally moderate to high.
