About the Role 

The OCS is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our HR team. As Payroll and Benefits Coordinator, you will be responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll and associated remittances (ex. Pension), as well as the administration of our benefits plan. 

You will use your comprehensive payroll knowledge and excellent analytical skills to ensure payroll is accurate, the reconciliations are completed in a timely manner, and all updates are in the system. As Payroll and Benefits Coordinator, you will respond to employee inquiries about payroll, benefits, and pension. 


About Your Day 

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salary employees
  • Reconcile employee payroll transactions and correct where needed. 
  • Respond to employee, manager and third-party Payroll & Benefit inquiries
  • Prepare pension and garnishment remittances
  • Assist in year-end reconciliations and tax form preparation
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll, accruals, pension, benefits, etc. 
  • Collaborate with Accounting Team regarding GL reconciliations
  • Prepare month-end and ad-hoc reporting
  • Create payroll reports for leadership on metrics and KPIs. 
  • Participate in team projects as required
  • Ensure payroll compliance with applicable regulatory and legal frameworks.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement initiatives for payroll and benefits processes
  • Maintain expertise on payroll and benefits best practices, legislation and regulation updates.  

 

About You 

  • Post-Secondary education in finance, payroll, HR or a related field of study, or equivalent level of education and experience
  • PCP designation complete, or in progress, would be a very strong asset
  • 1-2 years of Payroll and Benefits administration experience, including experience with payroll reconciliations and year-end processing
  • Solid understanding of Federal and Provincial Payroll & Employment legislation
