About the Role

We are looking for a UX Designer to join our Omni Digital Experience team. The UX Designer will help in defining and championing user centric experiences for the eCommerce OCS.ca website (B2C) and retailer wholesale portal (B2B) platforms. This role presents an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to make an impact and help with establishing and shaping UX best practices from the ground up at the OCS.
 
Reporting directly to the Manager, Digital Experience, the UX Designer will lead a variety of user design projects for both channels, utilizing interaction design principles and driving alignment across cross-functional teams through effective design facilitation. This individual takes an empathetic approach to design that helps bring best-in-class user experiences to life through research, collaboration, and creative solutions that help solve complex problems directly derived from user insights.

About Your Day

Interaction Design:

  • Design user interfaces by applying the fundamentals principles of user experience design, research experience, industry best practices 
  • Create and review user flows, functional design prototypes, and low-to-high fidelity wireframes from ideation/concept through to high-fidelity and pixel-perfect design based on specifications, goals, needs and limitations
  • Lead design review sessions with Product Management, Digital Experience, Developers and Product Managers to ensure proposed designs meet the business objectives and acquire consensus and approval on designs and documentation
  • Collaborate closely with developers, Quality Assurance (QA), vendors and cross-functional partners to ensure proposed designs are achievable and executed as desired
  • Create final design files, in keeping with the OCS brand standards, User Experience (UX) guidelines and accessibility legislation [the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)/Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)]
  • Provide final design assets and documentation to the development team; liaise to ensure final output matches UX specifications and visual design

User Experience Improvement:

  • Collaborate with vendor partners to ensure best practices are followed 
  • Convert feedback from various internal and external business groups into effective design
  • Support the team in managing and maintaining an orderly structure in FIGMA

Project Management:

  • Co-lead projects and deliverables that have prominent design or UX implications, demonstrating the skills and ability to lead tasks beyond strictly design
  • Track designs through implementation to ensure final integrity of the product

About You

  • Post-Secondary education in design, computer science, or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in UX design
  • 1-2 years of professional experience with FIGMA
  • Comfortable managing and prioritizing both short-term and long-term projects simultaneously, while working in an Agile project management process.
  • Relevant ecommerce experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with accessible design principles and the digital requirements for AODA/WCAG is required 

About the Job

  • This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $68,923 - $79,000. This is a bargaining unit pay grade 7 role, with a salary range of $68,923 - $84,239. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
