We are seeking a Manager to continue expanding our growing ESG platform. In this role, you will report directly to the VP, ESG & Asset Management, collaborating with the leadership team and internal departments. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated relationship builder passionate about sustainability, who thrives in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. Responsibilities including overseeing and continuously improving the ESG business strategy and analysis of all projects related to the three pillars of sustainability – Environmental, Social and Governance – both at the corporate and field levels.

 

Responsibilities

  • ESG Strategy & Implementation: Oversee and continuously improve Realstar’s sustainability strategy and programs to fulfill the strategic goals. Prepare and present business cases for new and existing ESG investments to the executive leadership team. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Keep abreast of the rapidly evolving reporting and regulatory landscape, continuously evaluate the relevance of different sustainability frameworks (e.g. GHG Protocol, TCFD, GRI and ISSB), and ensure compliance.
  • Reporting & Disclosure: Prepare quarterly and annual ESG performance reports for investors, corporate annual ESG report, and GRESB submissions.
  • ESG Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of ESG data at the asset level to develop insights to reduce carbon footprint and enhance sustainability in operations.
  • Industry Research: Research technological developments, market trends and government incentive programs applicable to ESG investments in real estate.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, align ESG goals, and maintain transparent communication. Liaise with property management staff to support the implementation of initiatives at the asset level. 
  • Thought Leadership: Stay informed about emerging ESG trends, methodologies, and industry best practices. Share insights with the organization and contribute to thought leadership in the ESG field.

 

Qualifications

  • Possess 4+ years of professional experience; experience in real estate and/or sustainability is an asset.
  • Hold a post-secondary education in business, engineering, real estate, environmental studies, or other relevant field.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in sustainability & ESG topics and issues; direct work exposure preferred.
  • A natural people-person with a proven track record of building consensus and motivating teams.
  • Exhibit exceptional written and verbal communication skills; skilled at presenting and report-writing.
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills to lead multiple projects concurrently.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with a willingness to go above and beyond to develop creative solutions and achieve goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
