POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this permanent, full-time role is responsible for preparing and producing timely and accurate financial management information reports including general ledger entries, budgets, operating statements, year-end financial statements and working papers for a portfolio of properties.

 

This position requires you to work out of our Head Office location, 77 Bloor Street West, Toronto, a minimum of three (3) days a week. This is subject to change with notice.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and ad-hoc management information reports
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly written reports including operating reports
  • Portfolio accounting including completion of early reporting metrics
  • Provide strategic property analysis and planning, including utility analysis and cash flow projections
  • Organize various fund activities such as cash forecasting, cash and line of credit management
  • Liaise with financial institution to address fund-level financing needs
  • Process general ledger entries, service mortgage and property tax accounts
  • Generate client distributions as required
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and files
  • Prepare annual budgets
  • Prepare annual audit working paper files
  • Meet pre-determined deadlines
  • Liaise with clients
  • Establish and maintain co-operative and collaborative relationships with internal and external clients
  • Identify opportunities for system/process efficiencies and/or enhancements
  • Provide guidance to other Accounting and Operations employees as necessary
  • Prepare and file Canadian commodity tax returns

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of four (4) years property accounting experience
  • CPA designation is considered an asset
  • Yardi or related property management accounting software skills
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Excel, advanced knowledge considered an asset  
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately meet deadlines and manage large volumes
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of French is considered an asset
