WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Communications Specialist, you have a passion for storytelling, a talent for building relationships through multiple means of communications, and a deep understanding of how to effectively manage our organization's public image. You design, create and write strategic and meaningful content for internal and external use. 

You will play a key role in building, promoting and protecting our public reputation and community engagement by creating compelling communications content and engagement strategies that drive desired business outcomes. Reporting to the Manager, Creative Content, Digital & Social Media you will contribute to and execute on digital communication strategies to enhance the airport's online presence, engage with key stakeholders, and promote our services, offerings and brand through captivating multimedia content. You will develop and manage creative and brand assets, and directly tell stories that support our strategy and brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintaining brand standards across all marketing and advertising to ensure consistency and compliance throughout YYC.
  • Contribute to and implement/execute digital communication strategies for all of our digital channels to engage various stakeholders, including passengers, airlines, partners, and the local community.
  • Create compelling content across multiple platforms, including web, social media, email newsletters, and signage, ensuring accessibility and adherence to best practices.
  • Maintain company intranet and website, including proper implementation of metadata, keywords in line with search best practices and knowledge of website & mobile architecture and user experience best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and partners to coordinate digital communication efforts and ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Draft key messages, briefing documents, and presentations while ensuring high quality standards and reflecting the YYC brand voice, tone and style.
  • Work collaboratively as a trusted advisor for various areas of the business by providing expertise and guidance.
  • Use multiple media tools, channels, mechanisms (graphics, photos, videos, clips, etc.) to increase and sustain engagement with our identity and takea highly proactive and current approach to communicating publicly with digital and social assets.
  • Monitor and analyze digital metrics and KPIs to track the performance of communication campaigns, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations for optimizing content and engagement strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in digital communications, accessibility standards, and web content creation.
  • Provide media relations and communications support as part of crisis and emergency response situations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary education in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Digital media, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience creating professional content, advising clients and implementing communications plans and tactics.
  • Experience liaising with agency partners to deliver on projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital communication best practices.
  • Very strong writing and editing skills. Familiarity with Canadian Press Style Guide is an asset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of storytelling in digital and traditional platforms.
  • Proactive work ethic and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Adobe suite, graphic design and video editing programs, content management tools, and digital asset management tools.
  • Strong photography and videography skills. Comfortable shooting with a mirrorless camera is an asset.
  • Aptitude for continuous learning and development.
  • Strategic thinking, project management and strong consulting skills.
