Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the role of Heavy-Duty Mechanic conducts and documents preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work of the vehicle fleet. The fleet includes snow-cats, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, and heavy equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Possess ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system schematics.
- Must be knowledgeable and show a proficient ability to troubleshoot and work with and repair electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, hydraulic systems, and light truck equipment.
- Must communicate and work together effectively with co-workers and all other departments.
- Operate all fleet vehicles to evaluate the results of previously performed maintenance.
- Accountable for accurate and precise record keeping
- Accountable for the cleanliness and safety in the work area
- Perform welding/fabrication using machine shop tools.
- All other duties assigned by the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor or Operations Manager.
Formal Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2nd year, 3rd year or journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
Job Experience:
- Experience with snow-cats and snowmobiles is an asset
- Experience working on heavy duty machinery
- Automotive experience
- Small engine experience
Special Skills/Equipment:
- Must possess the ability to operate all types of equipment.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Must possess accurate verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
