Slopes Lead Hand

Reporting to the Snowmaking Supervisor and/or Slopes Supervisor, the role of Slopes Lead is integral to the success of Panorama Mountain Resort.  Panorama covers numerous trails to assist in opening the resort in early November and remaining open until mid-April.   The successful candidate will assist in overseeing snowmaking staff, perform maintenance in snowmaking, and contribute to the efficient operation of the snowmaking system during production season.  The Slopes Lead will also assist in the Grooming department in both the summer and winter season as required.

Essential Functions

• Assist in developing safe work procedures, training programs and provide documented training for snowmaking staff.
• Work with the Snowmaking Supervisor and be actively involved in hiring of the snowmaking crew.
• Work with the supervisors in develop the skills and knowledge of the team.
• Work and interact with other departments as required.
• Work on mountain with the snowmaking crews
• Assist in maximizing utilization and efficiency of snowmaking capability based on weather, pumping capacity and equipment.
• Assist the Grooming department in run building and run preparation.
• Assist with trail maintenance and summer grooming.
• Assist in setup and storage of all snowmaking equipment.
• Perform maintenance and provide record keeping of all snowmaking equipment and snowmaking infrastructure.

Experience/Requirements:

• Willing to be flexible with hours, days and tasks
• Minimum 2 years of previous supervisory experience
• 5 years of slope preparation experience
• Minimum 2 years of snowmaking maintenance experience
• Automation and pumping system experience considered an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Proficient time management and communication ability
• Strong situational awareness and decision-making ability
