Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanic

Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the role of Heavy-Duty Mechanic conducts and documents preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work of the vehicle fleet. The fleet includes snow-cats, trucks, snowmobiles, ATVs, and heavy equipment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Possess ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system schematics.
  • Must be knowledgeable and show a proficient ability to troubleshoot and work with and repair electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, hydraulic systems, and light truck equipment.
  • Must communicate and work together effectively with co-workers and all other departments.  
  • Operate all fleet vehicles to evaluate the results of previously performed maintenance.  
  • Accountable for accurate and precise record keeping
  • Accountable for the cleanliness and safety in the work area  
  • Perform welding/fabrication using machine shop tools. 
  • All other duties assigned by the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor or Operations Manager.

 

Formal Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2nd year, 3rd year or journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.

 

Job Experience:

  • Experience with snow-cats and snowmobiles is an asset
  • Experience working on heavy duty machinery
  • Automotive experience
  • Small engine experience

 

Special Skills/Equipment:

  • Must possess the ability to operate all types of equipment.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must possess accurate verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
